--Adria Katz-- Dear Scott, The day of Marion's wedding went by in a blurred instant and there was never time to stop for anything, so I want to tell you now how much your chuppah contributed to what turned out to be an absolutely beautiful ceremony. The officiants were beyond wonderful - completely supportive, and with a truly personal touch. A dear friend of ours sang the sevenfold blessing, which was also very special. We even sang a hymn written by my Unitarian grandfather, so there was a little bit of everything! I have never, ever, been as aware of a chuppah and of the space that it creates. The few snapshots that we have so far were taken by Marion's sister-in-law, who was playing in the string quartet for the ceremony, so she was sitting to the side and a little to the back. They show very clearly what everyone saw, from their various vantage points - the framing of the poles, and, above all, the soft light shining through the drapes of the canopy. It was a visible, magical space, which is what it's supposed to be, I know, but I never actually saw it before. Also, I want say, if I didn't before, that you did a perfect job of attaching the canopy - it couldn't have looked better. One of the many wonderful things about the ceremony was that so many people we loved participated in it. We haven't known you long, but you both gave us so much time and help, and took such a personal interest, that you are definitely included in this feeling - it wouldn't have been nearly as good to have a chuppah made and erected by strangers! What you did just contributed one more element to the general feeling that the affair was blessed - thank you so much. You must have taken lots of pictures, but I thought I'd send these along, especially since one shows the ceremony. Funny to think that
you're off to do yet other weddings this weekend - I'm |
